I loved hanfu since forever. Hanfu is clothing of Han origin. People only talk about kimono which is Japanese and Shanghai dress for Chinese traditional wear. Very different. Hanfu is the dress of robes. And the accessories are like art to complement the dress.

I went as far as started playing around with beads and making me a hair ornament. Look what I made. ♥

I never realized why I loved putting jewelry in my hair or wrap blankets around my body as a child when playing dress up. It has been years and decades until now that I realize it is part of my heritage that I have Han blood in me. If that makes sense. My father always did say that between Manchu or Han, that we are of Han-folk. No questions about it, no matter how much Manchu had incorporated the cultural cleansing with forcing Han people to adopt Manchu ways whether in dress or the graphs of new age modern China. Ingrained with every Chinese person is the need for origin and art. I think that is probably the reason why Chinese opera is sought after by young Chinese today as well. But I digress.

I heard about hanfu revival back in 2009 and could only wonder from afar as some young Taiwanese did interviews talking about how rich the culture of Han was and that it has been forgotten in modern times. They felt the need to bring all that back with the start of hanfu. Since then the revival has progressed drastically. There are stores making hanfu available the world over. I can't wait to show off the hair ornaments I ordered.

A really great source of information about hanfu can be found here: https://www.newhanfu.com/
